FAQs

General Stay Information

  • Do you have minimum stay requirements?

Yes. Our summer cottages are rented weekly from Saturday to Saturday, however this may be lifted with last-minute cancellations. Rooms and 1-bedroom efficiency apartments generally require a 2-night minimum, although we sometimes make exceptions for 1-night stays.

  • What day does the weekly stay begin at Ames Farm Inn?

For our traditional summer weekly cottages, stays begin every Saturday. Many returning families plan their summers around this rhythm to keep their same week and cottage year after year. Rooms and 1-bedroom efficiency apartments can be rented weekly with arrival on any day of the week.

  • Do you offer shorter stays?

Yes. While our cottages rent weekly during the summer, we do offer rooms and 1-bedroom efficiency apartments for shorter visits. Guests may also enjoy shorter cottage stays during the Spring and Fall, when the lake is peaceful and weather is still pleasant. To explore your options, please give us a call. We’re always happy to help you plan the right stay.

  • What are your check-in and check-out times?

Arriving guests are generally welcome to check-in to their lakeside cottage or other resort accommodation at 2:00 pm on the day of arrival. After your relaxing stay, the check-out time is 10:00 am to give our housekeepers sufficient time for cleaning and refreshing the cottages for our next arriving guest. When available, early check-ins and late check-outs may be arranged.

  • Do you have Wi-Fi?

We’re intentionally unplugged. At Ames Farm Inn, we encourage guests to trade screens for sunsets and notifications for nature. Spend your days on the lake, reconnecting with family, relaxing outdoors, and making the kind of memories that only happen when you slow down. Here, the focus is on real conversations, real moments, and real time together. Enjoy the beauty of our lakefront property without digital distractions.

  • Do you have TVs?

Rooms and apartments do have TVs, but our lakefront cottages do not, by design. Real entertainment is outdoors: the lake, the beach, the sunsets, and the open space to relax and play. It’s the perfect chance to unwind, spend time together, and make memories without the screen.

  • Do the accommodations have air conditioning?

The rooms and 1-bdrm efficiency apartments are air-conditioned. At present, half of our cottages are now equipped with AC. We do have an ample supply of window fans for your comfort.

  • Can I make a lodging reservation online?

We do not offer online booking. Just like our property, your vacation experience with us is personal. We prefer to speak directly with our guests to ensure the best possible fit and service. Give us a call at 603-293-4321 or email us at info@amesfarminn.com. We’d love to hear from you and make sure we can help you plan your best vacation possible.

  • When is your season?

We are a seasonal property. Our accommodations are typically available from early May through Columbus Day

  • Is Ames Farm Inn pet friendly?

We're sorry, but we do not allow pets at the resort or restaurant. We are happy to welcome ADA-defined service animals. (Please note that emotional-support animals are not permitted.)

When we travel, our own dog enjoys a getaway at Four Paws Inn in Meredith—almost like a vacation for him too! If you need a trusted local option, we highly recommend checking them out: https://www.thefourpawsinn.com/.

  • Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is not permitted in any accommodations or shared spaces, including the beach, main dock, gazebo, or shared porches. Thank you for helping us keep the air fresh for everyone.

  • Do you have quiet hours?

Yes. Out of respect for our family-centered, relaxing environment, we observe quiet hours around 10:00 pm - 9:00 am. We ask guests to be mindful of their neighbors, especially outdoors, so everyone can enjoy a peaceful night by the lake.

  • Are visitors allowed?

To ensure a peaceful and private experience for all our guests, visitors are not permitted at Ames Farm Inn. This helps us keep the beach, green fields, and shared areas comfortable and enjoyable for those staying with us. Our focus on privacy and tranquility is part of what makes a stay here truly special.

  • Are campfires allowed?

During the summer season, campfires are not permitted at Ames Farm Inn. In the off-season, campfires may be allowed at the discretion of the owners, but require a fire permit from the town. All fires must be in enclosed firepits and located at least 25 feet from any building. Open fires are not allowed.
